APPROACH

My Approach

We will begin with a complimentary session in which you can experience what a coaching relationship could be like for you. If you decide to continue, you will find that I am generally more interested in YOU, –in your functioning and in the choices you make. You will find that I am in your corner and that you have a supporter and even cheerleader who will ask challenging questions and encourage you to look at various perspectives as you consider whatever is that is on your mind. You will find me generally available for short calls, texts or emails outside of our regular sessions if we need to address challenges that might be immediate or pressing. I will draw on my own experience as is helpful along the way.

YOU

COME

FIRST

My coaching is focused on the present and future. While coaching can often be therapeutic and address spiritual issues, it is neither straightforward therapy nor spiritual direction. From time to time you might be addressing technical aspects of your work (Planning a board retreat. Considering the pros and cons of hiring a consultant. Wondering how to be a more effective supervisor, etc.) If you choose to use me as a conversation partner or sounding board about such things, I will test that is how you want to use me in that session even though it is not technically ‘coaching.’ YOU COME FIRST.

PRACTICAL STUFF

We will generally meet via zoom. After an initial introductory session, sessions will be charged at $165 for new clients or a package of 12 sessions for $1,650. Other arrangements are always negotiable. Most clients begin with two or three 60-minute sessions each month and settle into a rhythm of one or two sessions per month after that. We will work out what is best for you depending on what is on your plate at any given time. If you need to cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of our appointment, you will be charged for the session. (Any referral leading to a new coaching relationship will earn you one session gratis.)

I will send a zoom link at the beginning of each week in which we have a session scheduled and will email an invoice or statement at the end of each month.

One further note: while some clients fund coaching out of relevant church funds, YOU are the client, whomever is paying the bills and our conversations will remain confidential unless you request otherwise in writing.

As a new rector, I found myself easily overwhelmed by the complex and varied duties of my new position. Geoffrey’s combination of gravitas, diverse experience in church leadership, and good humor helped me organize and prioritize my tasks and my strengths. Since our sessions together, I find myself leaning into my own leadership with renewed confidence and non-anxiety in anxious times.
